Who is Optec

Optec is your partner and specialist for the high-precision production and machining of optical components.

As a small company, we offer maximum flexibility and stand for short and reliable delivery times. Always close to the customer, we develop individual solutions for the production of optical components from individual items or small series through to full production We accompany your product throughout this time – from initial development to production readiness.

Optec was founded in Munich in 1996, providing project security above all for research, industry and semiconductor technology. All our work is distinguished by quality, precision and deadline compliance.

Why not benefit from our longstanding experience!

What does Optec make

Thanks to state-of-the-art machines combined with outstanding technical expertise, we are able to offer diverse machining options for your workpiece:

We lap, mill, saw, drill and polish. With the Super Smooth Surface Technology (SSST) co-developed by Optec, peak-to-valley heights of less than 2 Ångstroem (0.2 nm) are achieved even for large substrates. This application is typically required for UV optics, in astrophysics and for neutron optics, having been successfully utilized by us since 2009.

Furthermore, we process:

  • Wafers made from quartz glass and glass with a diameter up to 450 mm
  • Workpieces (typically made from glass) up to a diagonal of 750 mm
  • Planar and plan-parallel surfaces with an angular accuracy of a few angular seconds

We shall collaborate closely to develop the optical components required – with target solutions and optimal costs in mind.

We are specialized in the machining of brittle-hard materials such as:

  • Optical glass
  • Float glass
  • LSO crystals
  • CaWO4
  • Quartz glass
  • Sapphire
  • Al2O3
  • YSZ
  • Sic
  • Semiconductor materials such as silicon and germanium
